On Day 2 we started by meeting in Delavan, WI at the Perkins and what started out with 8 cars ended up being 20+ as other Power Tour(ers) saw our cars and jumped off the interstate and enjoyed the food. After eating we all formed up and drove down I-43 to Beloit to start the trip to Springfield.
This is the view from Mike Strinich's 1970 Chevelle Convertible. The silver Z28 is owned by John, a District Attorney in Tennessee. Over breakfast he mentioned alot of Rockford criminals like to hide out in his county. Not good to be known for sending our criminals down there. The Z28 was a cover cover on Chevy High Performance. A gearhead as a county legal eagle. Cool dude to know if you need it!!!
How smooth of a ride do you think this Caddy provides. I think a pretty smooth one.
This 1969 Camaro is a legit Pace Car. The engine though is the new crate 427 all aluminum engine. I don't feel so bad. Later on when I had to get a valve spring for the Monte this fella was attempting to fix a fuel leak in the O'Reilly's parking lot.
Eating lunch at J.C. Whitney's in LaSalle-Peru off of Rt. 6. We had fun, but quickly became tired of hot dogs as the lunch of choice.
The NICC gang taking a well-deserved "rest area" break along I-55 north of Springfield. Under the hood of the Monte a valve spring was about to give up on the driver's side. Calm before the storm !!!
This is the Little General, Jim Holbach, talking to some dudes at the Springfield fairgrounds. Jim is a stich. Some guy came up and asked where Wes Frisch got his vacuum cannister on his '66 and Jim responds "Torino". Some poor guy is out there trying to find a Torino something for his car. He'll be looking forever since Jim jsut thought of that on his own. We were howling.
This is the repaired valve spring. On cylinder #7. It isn't easy with limited tools, but with some dedicated friends that don't say die, it got done. The rocker stud on #5 was due to break about 10pm the following night.
