- IT’S NEVER TO LATE TO LOOK AT A CAR YOU WANT -
By: John Siebert
Finding this car was a case of being at the right place at the right time, along with a little luck. I happened upon the Monte Carlo in a local auto trader magazine, where the ad read, "1970 Monte Carlo, SS454, great shape". I called the owner and asked a few questions, like “is it a real SS?”. He stated " I just drive the car, and its beautiful, I’m assuming its original but I’m not sure and I really never cared.” He lived about 15 minutes from my house and told me he was at work and did not get off until
11pm.Well being
that this was the first day it was in the paper, I insisted on meeting him at 12 midnight and he
agreed. Right
when he opened the garage door I knew the car was mine!!! The car was awesome
and it had all the tell tale
I later got an offer on the car I almost couldn’t refuse, but the day before I was going to sell it I backed out. I just couldn’t let it go !!! The Monte is tucked away in the garage collecting dust with my other 5 Chevy’s and is rarely driven. I try to reason with myself as my friends often tell me “why don’t you sell these cars you never drive them. I’ve come to the conclusion that its an addiction that I cannot kick. I can’t help but wonder if there’s another rare Bowtie somewhere that’s waiting to join my collection.
