24 Years of building friendships, Chevrolets, having fun, helping each other and enjoying our Classic Chevelles, El Caminos and Monte Carlos.

Our Purpose:

The Northern Illinois Chevelle Club is comprised of 148 members who are dedicated to the preservation and restoration of 1964-1987 Chevelles, El Caminos and 1970 - 1972 Monte Carlos.

Included Cars:

Of course, all 1964-1987 Chevelles, Malibus and El Caminos are included.  These include original unrestored, "restified", original restored to perfect 1000 point status, Pro-Street, "in process primer", modified and full custom.  We don't care, we love'm all!!!

Additionally, all 1970-1972 Monte Carlos are included.  Why?  The answer is that the Monte Carlo is built on a Chevelle frame and uses all of the same drivetrain options.  In fact, look at the old Chevrolet dealership literature and you will see that Chevelles and Montes were built in the same plant on the same assembly line.

Membership Overview:

The NICC was started by Jim and Mary Holbach in 1984.  The first meeting was held at the Holbach's home in Palatine, IL. where they still live.  As evidence of the solid member base, Jim & Mary are still active members of the NICC, as are 6 of the first 20 members, which is remarkably good.  In fact, 4 of the 6 members who attended the first meeting in February, 1984 are still members.  It would be 5 of 6 but one passed away in March, 1998.  From the initial meeting of 6 people it has grown over the last 20 years to over 160 members.

The members have one common interest:  the pursuit of enjoyment through restoring, driving and showing Chevelles, El Caminos and Monte Carlos.  Through this common interest strong personal friendships have been forged and continue to be.  We have had instances where members spent hours helping others complete their car so they could attend the NCOA Convention.  We have had members help in the last few months of a fellow member's life here on earth, and they were there to help the family once they had passed away.  It is these bonds which have, and continue to help the NICC remain one of the premiere local car clubs in the country.

If you are considering joining this great group, don't be afraid of having to break into "the group".  Just attend a club function and you'll be welcome; just bring pictures of your car if you don't drive it.  Once you get involved, you'll be glad you did.

What we Do:

For details of what we have done and what we have planned, visit the "Activities" page for pictures of what we have done and the "Calendar of Events" page for what is coming up.  Even if you are not a member yet, pick out an event, visit and see if you like what you see.

Membership Requirements:

There are no requirements other than you enjoy 1964-1987 Chevelles and El Caminos and 1970-1972 Monte Carlos.  Ownership of one of these vehicles IS NOT required.  If you have one but it is not "show ready" that is fine.  We have members who own seven + cars, those whose car is in pieces and those who are still looking for their perfect or project car.

Benefits of being an NICC member:

First and foremost being an NICC member provides you with the opportunity to establish relationships with people who have a common interest, are able to assist with technical advice, supply you with parts and assist with working on your car.

On a monthly basis each member receives the monthly newsletter of the NICC, which discusses local issues, details upcoming club functions, has member feature car articles, industry news, "insider news" from our contacts in the automotive industry, classifieds for items being sold and wanted, a "Nuts & Bolts" section which includes information important to members. You never know what will be contained in the newsletter.

So, now that you have a little hint of what is involved, print the registration form and send it in and get involved.  We love new members and their cars.  We have much planned and look forward to having you, your family and car(s) in the Northern Illinois Chevelle Club.

Join the Club

Oh yes, we hosted 1998 for a total of four National

Chevelle Owners Association Conventions.  It was great.

Don't you miss having a nationally judged show?
